The main characters are Eve who is a demon that posseses people , Alex Price a serial killer that has had a very troubled past, Dr. Lori Ames an FBI doctor, Heather Clark who is Daniel's wife, and Daniel Clark an Fbi agent that is obsessed with Alex Price's crimes. Some minor characters are a Catholic priest named Father Robert Seymour, an FBI agent named Brit Holman, Heather's friend Raquel, Alice who is Alex's abductor, and Anne Rudolph ( a journalist that writes a newspaper article every few chapters about Alex Price's life ). I really liked Daniel, Alex, Lori, Heather, Brit, and Fr. Seymour. I disliked Raquel, Eve, and Alice. They were all extremely beleivable characters because something like this could very possibly happen. Daniel Clark really reminds me of my grandpa because they are both very obsessive over ONE thing and they put that thing over everything else. For example, my grandpa is obsessed with his work and has to let everyone else know about every little thing that goes on, and Daniel is obsessed with the Alex price crimes with which who he calls Eve because of the message he carves into his victims chests which are all young women. Also, Fr. Seymour reminds me of all Catholic priests being very calm and confident in the face of danger and always being there for anybody when ever they need help.
Daniel Clark changed extremely after the exorcism at the end of the book. He goes from being a "not happy with his life" sort of guy and someone who despises religion to someone that is full of happiness, joy, and most of all faith. Another person that changed dramatically is Alex price. He went from a ruthless serial killer to a calm, loyal man that just wants love and to feel belonged. I think this is very beleivable because in God anything can happen and that is exactly what happened in this book.
To better understand this book I think I should tell you a little about Alex's past. When Alex was five he and his sister were taken from their home and taken to a place deep in the forest in Oklahoma where they would remain until Alex was sixteen. They were beaten when they tried to ask questions and were brought up in a twisted religion that involved worshipping the demon Eve. When Alex reached sixteen he and his sister escaped from the house and hopped on a train and headed to Los Angeles where they started a new life. However, Alice had brainwashed Alex so badly that he started beleiving the twisted religion and worshipping Eve. And once he allowed Eve into his heart his killing spree began.
My opinion of these charaters are that they create an amazing story and are all very interesting in their own way.
